Briefing: Staff Accommodation - The Housing Association Offer

The Government wishes to see publicly owned land released for housing development, and the NHS are experiencing considerable pressures on budgets; surplus land is a way of releasing cash, investing in service redesign, securing accommodation for staff, and stimulating growth through construction.

The NHS has well-established ways of disposing of surplus land; the real question is how do they do this in a way that benefits the NHS as a whole, as well as the the taxpayer?

This briefing sets out the ways in which greater value can be realised from surplus NHS land through the under-explored option of staff accommodation, how housing associations are uniquely poised for delivering this greater value, and what a fruitful partnership between an NHS Trust and housing association would look like.
